This is the first book I am aware of that is intended to help young children deal with the loss of a loved one to suicide. In the story, a mother uses the events in the life of the artist Vincent Van Gogh to help her grieving young daughter deal with the loss of a beloved uncle. The illustrations are of varied quality, but were all created by family members who had lost loved ones to suicide. The only drawback to the story is that a typical child is likely to be unfamiliar with the artist Van Gogh, but the book provides a satisfactory overview of his work, and key events in his live. Overall, the book is a gentle, sympathetic discussion of this painful subject.
